In Social media consumption - You are not consumer but you're the product being sold out...!

We all are using some or other Social media platforms, But Why we use it ?!? Well, there are many answers for it... or probably there are no exact answers to it. Actually we don't know the reason because everyone around us uses it we also use it... !

Actually It keeps us engaged and emotionally charged, also some psychologist says that it release the effect of dopamine in our brain which results pleasure kind of thing. May be that's the reason sometime we charged up with some posts and likes or comments we received for it. Also, may be that is the reason we are waiting for comments, counts of likes after our certain posts shared.

The thing you have to think about is that you are not consumer here, but actually you are a product being sold to someone else...! your feelings, your emotions, your likes - dislikes, where you shop, where you click, where you stays more, your check-ins your checkouts, what you download, your search behavior and what not...!

Few of the platforms are so strongly built that advertisers can exactly target a person who just got transferred to a particular new city or location for his new job assignment and that person will start receiving ads of rent a flat, rent furniture, if single food services and other relevant services. Also you might have experienced that you forgot something in your shopping cart and those items are visible to you again & again all the way ! And of course you cant escape it.

All of these marketers are in the business of selling stuff based on our habits and behavioral information which we nowadays called as DATA. What can a consumer do in this situation... actually nothing much unless he cut the cord from all social platforms voluntarily.
